When making a decision, not many would consider lino to be a very glamorous choice. But the well-informed will know that the material has a great deal going for it.
First of all, it isn’t as expensive as oak flooring, something well worth bearing in mind in an age where people have realised that spending beyond one’s means is no longer feasible or clever. What is more, there is value for money in the resilience offered by scratch-resistant, stain-proof and waterproof cheap lino flooring.
Lino flooring can be very useful in places where there is plenty of water, such as the kitchen and bathroom, where spillage, drips and humidity are all inevitable. Here, the advantage over oak flooring is obvious. There is no chance of mildew or mould. Lino flooring can also be comfortable, ensuring that your feet do not have a hard time even after spending long hours standing in the kitchen.

Rugs might be able to accentuate the appearance of a room but they also give a sensation of spirit and character. The great thing about rugs is that they are completely affordable so there is a carpet to suit all preferences that a person might have. Your kitchen is just one location where a rug can look great but obvious areas include placing a rug on the floor in front of your sink. Positioning the rug in this spot can play a handy role as it helps to soak up any liquid that should fall. You may also want to consider matching the rug with your cabinets or tiles for more consistency in the kitchen. Rugs do serve a purpose when it comes to decorating your kitchen but one of the main advantages is that there are umpteen options to select from. If you prefer a particular color, size, or material it will be out there and it will improve the look and feel of your kitchen area.

Choosing the best flooring for your bathroom can make all the difference in the world when it comes to creating a space that’s safe, efficient, and chic. Because of the high exposure to moisture in the form of humidity and splashes, bathroom flooring must be resistant to water damage, if not completely waterproof. An experienced bathroom designer can advise you on how to select a material that enhances your decor without compromising your safety or promoting the growth of mould and mildew. With so many stylish yet slip-resistant options to choose from, there’s no need to sacrifice aesthetics for practicality. Discuss your options with your bathroom designer to find the option that suits your decor and lifestyle.
In a small home, a single bathroom may endure a great deal of wear and tear. The flooring you choose must be strong enough to stand up to the effects of foot traffic, frequent showers or baths and microbial growth. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are popular options among homeowners in who wish to trim the cost of a bathroom remodelling project whilst taking advantage of a vast selection of colours and textures. Ceramic tiles are sturdy, waterproof and easy to maintain, yet your bathroom designer can show you an entire spectrum of hues, from subtle neutral shades to bold, dramatic primary colours. Patterned tiles can be used to highlight the contours of a bathtub or shower cabinet or create a striking visual focal point. A creative bathroom designer can suggest a host of ways to use this versatile flooring to your advantage when you’re remodelling your bathroom.
Safety is a priority for any household, but if you have small children or elderly adults in your home, choosing a slip-resistant flooring material is paramount. Your bathroom designer may recommend studded rubber or textured vinyl or lino tiles to provide resistance under foot. These materials are inexpensive, easy to clean and hard wearing.

It’s strange to think about if you’ve always had carpets in your home, but some people have no carpets at all!
Having solid oak flooring throughout a traditional or contemporary house is actually quite normal, and it can be a seen as a nice period feature throughout the home. That said, no carpets at all could mean the flooring isn’t the most comfortable or cosy, especially in the winter months. That’s why it is important to consider having rugs or mats to rest your feet on in the so-called ‘comfortable areas’ like bedrooms, the living room or a snug room. The great thing about having no carpets is of course that stains are no more and drips can easily be wiped up, but the negatives come from not having a cosy feel on the feet, which we all want from time to time. Consider a series of designer rugs if you want to add a touch of warmth to your flooring.

Runner rugs are some of the longest you’ll find and they can make a home feel more expensive and luxurious. The only problem is knowing where to put them. Hallways are a really nice spot for a long runner rug and it will be one of the first fixtures of the house that your guests see, so it’s important to pick one that’s stylish and fits in with the surrounding furniture. Another great place to put a runner rug is on the landing. If you have solid oak flooring throughout your house and you want to provide a cosier feel, a runner rug will be perfect, keeping feet nice and comfy allowing people to peel off into different rooms without making a sound. You can buy runner rugs in many different styles, including Moroccan, Aztec and Italian to name a few, so have a good look at your local furniture store and see if there is one fit for your home.
