Non-slip flooring for bathrooms

Posted on September 21, 2016 at 10:03 am

There are many ways in which you can improve the safety of your bathroom flooring and here are some of our top tips. Firstly, you should make sure the flooring you choose is textured. So whether you opt for tiles, vinyl flooring or rubber, make sure it has a grippy feel so you won’t fall over when the floor is wet. If you can’t change your flooring and you need another solution, buy a nonslip bathroom mat to run alongside your shower or bathtub. This will ensure the floor is not slippy when you step out of the bath or shower, and you can then use that lace to dry yourself before moving outside into another room. Another option is to choose under floor heating as this ensures your floor dries quicker. Okay it’s the most expensive option by a mile but it’s worth considering if you’re planning on redecorating your bathroom.

Wet Rooms – Best flooring options

Posted on August 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm

A wet room can be a bit of a luxury; it’s essentially one big shower with a cleverly designed floor that allows the water to run straight down the plug. The floor tends to dry quicker as it’s a wide-open space, but you will need to pick the best flooring. There are many options to choose between but one of the most popular types right now is Aquafloor Salvador. It’s made from solid polymer and with a 0.3mm wear layer, so you can be sure of a modern bathroom flooring system that lasts for years and years. A cheaper alternative is Vinyl Sheet. This is usually supplied in 2 metre wide sheets so you may need quite a few of them to fill a large space, but they will need to be put down by a professional because you won’t want any air bubbles beneath the service. These can last a very long time and the material is very cheap to buy, that’s why many people opt for this flooring in their wet rooms.

Floor Paint

Posted on July 21, 2016 at 7:37 pm

Floor paint is a nice option for garages, workshops and storage units that might suffer from dust and dirt on a daily basis. With floor paint, you can spread it on top of dry concrete, and it will cleverly work to seal the floor, whilst waterproof floor paints are available. This can solve problems of dust, which could be a big problem in garages and workshops, and it allows the homeowner to sweep any mess up easily. Without floor paint, a concrete floor will always suffer from dust and so too will the items stored in that room. That’s why floor paint is a cheap and clever solution. You can also choose between a huge range of colours, so finding the right finish for your building is easy and you can buy these online at great prices.

Why more people are choosing stone for driveways

Posted on June 24, 2016 at 8:34 am

We talk a lot about internal flooring option on this blog, but the outside is just as important and one trend we’ve picked up on recently is using stones as a driveway surface. With stone, you get a nice looking surface that will work wonderfully beside a lawn or a patio pathway leading up to the house. It’s nice and confortable for your car tyres to drive on so long as you have an even spread of stone that’s not deep enough to swallow your tyres. The downside is of course, maintenance. You will need to keep it tidy every week, sweeping the stones away from the path or road and back into your driveway. This won’t be much a problem but if you’re planning on renting your property out, you will have to advise and check up on your tenants, because roads, even private ones should be kept clean otherwise the council will soon come knocking at your door with a hefty fine!

Why matching may not work in your flavour

Posted on March 11, 2016 at 10:12 pm

Many people feel the need to match their carpet with their walls or furniture, and whilst it can work in some homes, it tends to prevent your furniture from standing out in your home. If you have a grey carpet, grey walls and grey furniture, you’re unlikely to have anything that really stands out except for your TV screen! Matching your carpet with your walls is rather common, but you don’t have to buy furniture that matches too. We recommend that you create a theme by choosing similar tones for walls and carpets, then you have the freedom to choose furniture that suits your personality and stands out in your room, whether that be a bedroom, living room, kitchen or dining room.
